Ltd, Mumbai, Traffic Infratech Expo New Delhi proved to be a platform that connects technology solutions with government and enforcement agencies. To address issues and overcome challenges, discussion and brainstorming are the first steps. Staying true to this, the Smart Mobility Conference added a unique flair with its technology-backed approach and openly discuss and interact directly with the experts in the industry.
Collaboration for joint technology development
To strengthen the technological ecosystem for indigenous innovation, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) the premier R&D organisation under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive a new era of Swadeshi solutions for the automotive sector, in a ceremony held during the expo in the presence of Ms Sunita Verma, Group Coordinator (R&D in Electronics & IT), MeitY; Dr Saurabh Dalela, Director, ICAT; Dr P R Lakshmi Eswari, Centre Head, C-DAC Hyderabad and senior officials from the Government and Industry.
The MoU covers joint technology development, identification of new R&D areas, development of testing standards, and cybersecurity solutions for the automotive sector, while also exploring emerging business opportunities in this domain. Under this partnership, ICAT will collaborate with the automotive industry to define technological requirements, while C-DAC will design and develop indigenous solutions tailored to those needs. For new technologies, C-DAC will undertake the development and innovation component, and ICAT will provide testing, validation, and certification facilities, as well as facilitate industry linkages with end-user automobile companies.
Sharing his thoughts on some of the leading projects, an exhibitor, Mr AL Narsimhan, Vice President, Prama India Pvt Ltd explained: “Our STQC-certified cameras are installed at locations such as Shree Siddhivinayak Temple, Mumbai and Vande Bharat Trains. We have been participating for several years and this has been a great launchpad for introducing new products. I would give 5 stars to the organisers for bringing a pool of genuine quality visitors for our products and new launches.” Prama India Pvt Ltd has launched solutions related to traffic management systems and national highways. Our cameras are embedded with AI to ensure safety and security.
Tech-based traffic management is a ground reality today. Government bodies are reaching out to the companies that are building systems that impart road safety, better enforcement and reduce travel times. One of the legacy exhibitors, Mr Bhardwaj Naik, Chief Revenue Officer, Videonetics, described his innovation: “One of our key products is the Intelligent Traffic Management System and we have displayed a dashboard here. This dashboard is developed using feedback received from various traffic management authorities and has been deployed the same in a couple of states. Such a dashboard could help in avoiding accidents, improve road safety and reduce travel time from point a-b. We have been consistent partners in this event as we find value in this event. We have received quality footfalls from a lot of first-time customers across all three days. This is a good collaborative platform to showcase our products to a more relevant audience.”
Sharing his positive experience about the show, Mr Prakash Venkatesan, CEO, SA Digitronics expressed: “We have a very good experience participating here in the expo. We have received the right kind of quality customers. We are expecting a good turnout of our conversions through this show. We have been one of the few exhibitors who have been participating for the last 8-10 years.”
Mr Ayush Bagaria, Director, Shyam Metalics Crash Barrier Unit, found the event a good platform to build connections. He revealed: “We are exhibiting our crash barrier systems, which enhance road safety and save lives. The show has proved to be a good platform for us. Being a new entrant in this segment, we have been able to connect with a lot of customers and consultants through this platform.”
Visitors were able to have access to various new upgrades with a showcase of expansive technology for traffic management, road safety and rescue, mobility solutions, solutions for highway and tolling and much more. Here are some excerpts directly from the visitors.
A visitor at the expo, Mr Joydeep Shome, Deputy Director General, National Informatics Centre, lauded the indigenous development of tech-based systems. He articulated: “It was great to be here at the expo. It’s a great opportunity to understand various discussions and deliberations and connect with the ecosystem and exchange views for building better solutions for safety and management. It is encouraging to see so many Make in India state-of-the-art products, such as AI-based traffic management systems and detection systems, tolling systems, which are evolving every day.”
Another visitor, Dr. Madhusudan Joshi, Head-Technology and Business, International Centre for Automotive Technology, praised the innovative displays and diverse range of solutions displayed in the expo. He shared: “Such exhibitions contribute heavily to the growth of mobility. In this event, I saw a very focused approach towards how to make traffic more sustainable. So many exhibitors have demonstrated unique technology solutions which will help make transportation safe, sustainable and secure. I feel that India sources a lot of solutions developed in the neighbouring countries, but I would like India to find solutions to India-specific issues by developing technologies indigenously.”
